Orthodontics is a very important section that requires attention, covering the proper placement of the teeth on the dental bones, the elimination of facial defects, the diagnosis and treatment of existing disorders. Although orthodontics is a department, dentistry faculties work depending on clinical sciences.

While some dental and facial disorders may be congenital, some cases develop later. The orthodontics department also removes the defects in the lip and jaw area, and also performs medical applications for the regular placement of dental bones, such as excess teeth in the mouth, removal of the curvature of the teeth.

Orthodontics department is divided into two;

Removable Orthodontic Treatment: It is the treatment area used by removable devices to provide space for permanent teeth, to correct simple malocclusions and to prevent situations that may occur due to bad habits and abnormal swallowing.

Fixed Orthodontic Treatment: It is a form of treatment with brackets and wires that pass through the brackets, are adhered to the teeth and are not removed during the treatment. Fixed orthodontic treatment is applied to every individual with healthy gums and teeth.

In orthodontic treatments, the treatment method and duration are determined after the doctor's examination. First of all, it is aimed that the patient regains oral health. Structural defects in the teeth are eliminated, and surgical intervention is performed in the treatment of babies born with cleft palate and lip.

Orthodontic treatment is not just for the purpose of having aesthetic teeth. Orthodontics not only provides a better appearance by correcting crooked teeth, but also prevents the problem of cleaning crooked teeth. It is very difficult to care for crooked teeth. However, after orthodontic treatment, the patient can easily clean their teeth.
